Born in 2001, Cold Fairyland began as the project of coworkers Lin Di
(Vocals/Keyboard) and Suyong (Bass). Taking the name from the Chinese
translation of one of Lin Di's favorite books by author Haruki Murakami, they
reworked several songs they had each previously written and made a demo.
Unofficially released online, it was soon picked up by underground record
company LStape and released on cassette. Now this demo is available as their
first CD demo "Flying Over the City".

In 2004, LinDi's
second solo album "Bride in Legend" was published by Taiwan's Wind
Records. An epic album with
a touching story: a young girl`s journey to marry a man from afar becomes
a quest of her own destiny and her life. Deserts, oasis, exotic
natural scenes, wars and dreams all emerge in the magical music. Cello, guitar,
bass, Chinese flute, pipa, er-hu and zheng blend so well in surreal images that
you can no longer tell the East from the West. |

This is an important and special album for Lin Di. Its music purports not history or truth, but invites you into the imagined universe of The
Gossypium Era. In that space and time, people live as described in ancient inscriptions. They stroll through landscape paintings indefinitely arrested in time, spontaneously airing out sounds unheard of, spreading rays of the most exquisite and auspicious scents. |
